In line with one of the proposed Ghana Banking principles of promoting customers to integrate Environmental Social Governance (ESG) in their business, UNEP FI through colleagues at the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) is undertaking a study to assess the level of integration of sustainability in the business sector’s operations, value chains and products and services in Ghana. It will also look at the taxonomies, frameworks, capabilities, assessment methodologies and practices, structures and information disclosures available or needed in the business and financial sectors for the identification and scaling up of green finance opportunities.
The study aims to raise awareness of the need to integrate sustainability in the Ghana Business community, to enable private sector firms to benefit through the increased availability of “green” finance and new or increased revenue-generation projects or business lines that contribute to sustainable development.
PAGE is a partnership between UN Environment, ILO, UNITAR, UNIDO, and UNDP to support countries’ inclusive green economy initiatives by providing policy advice, assessment and evaluation tools with the aim to put sustainability at the heart of economic policymaking. Ghana officially became a PAGE partner country in 2014.
